Phirse Healing Support Group – Emotional Wellness

Message from Healing Group Volunteers

A support group brings together people who are going through or have gone through similar experiences and provides an opportunity for people to share personal experiences and feelings, coping strategies, or firsthand information.

For many people, a marital relation-related support group fills a gap between professional therapy and the need for emotional support. A person’s relationship with a therapist or other medical personnel may not provide adequate emotional support, and a person’s family and friends may not understand the impact of divorce, separation or widowhood.

Structure of Healing Support Group

The Healing Support Group is independent of any organization and run entirely by volunteer group members.

Support sessions are hosted as in-person meetings in a public place such as an outdoor park or a private place such as a member’s home, or over online zoom call. Each session has a maximum of 8-10 participants and is facilitated by a volunteer member.

Making the most of Healing Support Group

When you join the Healing Group, you may be nervous about sharing personal issues with people you don’t know. At first, you may benefit from simply listening. Over time, however, contributing your own ideas and experiences may help you get more out of the Healing Group.

Participants are encouraged to openly and honestly share their experiences while keeping the discussions positive and supportive.

Remember that a support group isn’t a substitute for professional therapy. Let your therapist know that you’re participating in a support group. If you don’t think a support group is appropriate for you, but you need help coping with your condition or situation, talk to your therapist about counseling or other types of therapy.

Guidelines for participants

  • Please avoid condemning or criticizing your ex-partner.
  • We are a community of members from diverse cultural, and religious backgrounds. Please be mindful of this diversity and refrain from opinionating any hurtful sentiments.

Confidential and FREE

Healing Group sessions are completely confidential and FREE. Participant attendance, their details, and their thoughts would not be shared with anyone outside the session.
